The Johannesburg Zoo was established in 1904, and historically, it has been owned and operated by the CITY OF JOHANNESBURG.

The core business of the Johannesburg Zoo is the accommodation, enrichment, husbandry and medical care of wild animals.

The Johannesburg Zoo contributes to the quality of life of the citizens of the city through, Education, Conservation, Research and Recreation.

In March 2006, Headline was awarded the contract for the management of the facilities at the Johannesburg ZOO. Within this unit Headline manages a number of kiosks and has also established a Café Fino, which successfully opened in May 2006.

Additionally Headline is also responsible for any conferencing and banqueting requirements at the zoo.
